Introduction
Mr.Rao was appointed as a consultant in 1987. He is also the President of European Urolithiasis Society and an office bearer of European Urological Association. He is an examiner in Surgery for Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has published more than 50 papers on various urological conditions and has lectured widely in the UK, Europe and other parts of the world. He has obtained several research grants for research into causation of urinary stones.

In addition to general urological services Mr Rao's special areas of interest are:

• Total stone management including shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), Laser lithotripsy, Percutaneous surgery and investigations as to the cause of stone disease
